Supporting Families
Being a young person in 2025 comes with unique pressures. The constant presence of social media, rising levels of emotionally based school avoidance, and growing academic and social expectations all contribute to increased struggles with mental health.
This doesn’t just affect young people — it impacts families too. As a parent or carer, it can be incredibly difficult to know how to support your child when they’re struggling. You're not alone, and the right support can make a real difference

Gillian has been a qualified children and young people's counsellor since 2023, with over a decade of experience working with children in various settings. She understands first-hand what life is like in schools, what young people are facing, and why so many are finding it hard to cope.
Counselling allows young people to speak openly with someone who isn’t emotionally involved — and that alone can make a big difference.

Every child who comes to Counselling With Gillian is treated as an individual. Building a trusting relationship is at the heart of the work. Using a variety of tools — such as art, play, or simply talking — Gillian supports each young person in exploring what’s going on for them. Together, they work out what’s needed to help them move forward.
